An Encounter, In Gold
A register of luxury encounters.
Photograph something that stops you — a car on a Mayfair kerb, a watch across a table, a hull in a harbour, a bottle worth remembering. The curator identifies it and writes it up in the manner of an auction catalogue: what it is, where it sits in its maker’s lineage, and why encountering one matters.
You needn’t own anything. You needn’t know anything. Members here range from people who can name a chassis code at fifty paces to people who simply liked the shape of something and wanted to know what it was. The second kind are as welcome as the first, and usually learn faster.
Standing is earned by what you witness and share — never by what you own or what you spend. A Mk1 Golf, properly encountered, is recorded with the same seriousness as a Ferrari F40, because the point is the encounter rather than the price.
The Salon holds automobiles, and is open. The Winder, the Marina, the Hangar and the Cellar — watches, vessels, aircraft, wine and spirits — are in preparation.
